Friday night I had the privilege of appearing at an event in Los Angeles, sponsored by Writers Bloc in honor of The New Yorker’s 100th Anniversary and the publication of this amazing anthology. We heard lovely readings of stories by Bernard Malamud (read by Richard Kind), Grace Paley (read by Kerry O’Malley), and Tobias Wolff (read by Jon Cryer) and, of course, this fired me up all over again about the beauty and mystery of this form we love. (Thanks to Andrea Grossman, Writers Bloc, Deborah Treisman, the actors, everyone who came out - it was a beautiful and receptive audience indeed.)
